The last match in pool B Balkan Super League between Aris Eagles vs Locomotive Sofia was played today in Athens. Both teams played well on a very hot and warm day. Aris was triumphant with 46-30 in an interesting finish.
Host coach Stuart McLennan said: „Hard to put into words how proud I am of everyone in the team today. We learned a lot a few weeks ago in Belgrade against Partisan where we went with 13 players and at one stage had 12 on the field. We worked hard on our weaknesses at training and today we had a much improved performance against Locomotive Sofia. Lokomotiv chose to bring two international level players from Red Star Belgrade and a Serbian coach /player in their 17 man squad. We were down early thanks to tries scored and masterminded by the opposition imported players but the Aris boys stuck to their guns and ran over the Bulgarian team at the end on a very hot day. Congratulations and thanks to Locomotive Sofia for making the trip and giving us a tough game. All my team can be very proud of themselves for how they played, the team spirit and the way they conducted themselves. The victory was extremely sweet!“
